STYLE GURU BIO: Nicole Zaino

Hello my lovely Fashionistas/os! My name is Nicole Zaino, and I am beyond excited to update you on my favorite fashion trends as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. I am currently a junior at Villanova University, where I am completing a double major in Communications and Italian. Having spent this past fall semester studying abroad in Italy and traveling all throughout Europe, my passion for fashion has increased exponentially. This experience has left me eager to find hints of my newly developed European taste in everyday styles that can be sported around campus.

My extreme interest in fashion has undoubtedly developed from constantly being surrounded by my mom, her three sisters and their timeless style and beauty when I was growing up. Having two brothers and six male cousins, I was always the one that my mom and aunts brought on shopping sprees, allowing me to learn the major fashion dos and don’ts along the way. Spoiled with an abundance of valuable fashion advice, I gradually began to find my own style, which is still evolving everyday.

Personally, I would define my style as modest chic, while also exhibiting subtle accents of both boho and grunge. On a typical winter day, you can find me wearing either jeans or leggings, paired with an oversized sweater and an accessorizing scarf. Concerning footwear, I love rocking either my classic white converse or a trendy, short boot. One of my most recent obsessions includes leather moto jackets. These jackets add the perfect amount of edge to an everyday outfit, ultimately taking the look to the next level.

I am constantly inspired by the fashion of those around me; whether it is from my fashion-forward peers at Villanova or the innovative Fashionistas/os that I encountered on my excursions throughout Europe. These adventures have allowed me to spot new trends that have yet to appear in America. For example, a trend that I adore is a blanket scarf, which can be found at Zara. Zara, Urban Outfitters and Free People are the stores I most frequently shop, feeding my clothing obsession and fostering the creation of my simple style. In a perfect world, I would share a closet with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, but for now I’ll simply take note of their iconic style while searching for Fashionistas/os on Villanova’s campus.
