STYLE GURU BIO: Nicole Hassels

January 10th, 2017 at 2:00am

Hi there! My name is Nicole Hassels and I am a sophomore at Illinois State University, studying fashion merchandising and design and minoring in mass media. While I am a girly girl, I have a love for sports and I have played golf my whole life. Although Bloomington-Normal has become my new home, Geneva, IL. will always be my true home. I am a ice cream and chocolate enthusiast, a lover of Tory Burch and obsessed with my two dogs who are both golden retrievers.

My love for fashion is fairly recent, If someone told me 5 years ago that I was going to be a fashion major in college I would have never believed them. My style has changed significantly over the years and I would say it is a mix of a bunch of different things. If I had to describe my style, it would probably go along the lines of hipster, girly, sporty, and trendy. Although I am a fashion major, you can always find me walking to class in Lululemon leggings, a hoodie, and gym shoes and I know I am not the only one!

I am not a huge color person. Most of my clothes are black, gray, white or any neutral color. My friends and my mom always make fun of me for having 27 sweaters that are just grey! You can never go wrong with these colors and they match just about anything! I usually wear simple jewelry and usually always gold, you can always find me wearing my gold Tory Burch earring and my huge gold watch. The above look is just a simple outfit I might wear in transition weather when its not super cold but not too warm either. You can never have too many pairs of shoes and especially booties! These booties are tory burch but you can find ones similar to these in so many different stores with varying prices to fit your price range. Another thing you can never have too many of is distressed or ripped jeans, especially black ripped jeans. You can wear these with just about anything and are always look cute! Finally, turtlenecks are one of my favorite things to wear when its cold out and just an easy thing to throw on and stay warm at the same time.

I am so excited to see what this first semester of being a Style Guru has in store for me!
