STYLE GURU BIO: Nemesis Dipré

January 9th, 2017 at 2:00am

Hey, my name is Nemesis. Yes, it’s actually Nemesis. My hobbies include curating playlists that will change your life, lighting vanilla candles, and reading Poe under the covers. You can always find me where the music is good, where the vibes are right, and where the people are passionate. I was raised in Bronx, New York, and I actually wouldn’t have it any other way. All of these things have helped me develop my taste in clothes, colors, and my favorite… sneakers!

I use the word taste because I have never felt I have had a specific style. Each day’s outfit is susceptible to the influences of what song I woke up to, my mood, and of course, my overwhelming collection of concert T-shirts and my urge to wear them. On the day I took these photos, I overcame that urge and decided to go with some subtle yet intricately loud pieces. Let me explain just what that paradox means.

I’ll start off how I start every morning, sneaker first. I call this the bottom up effect (I really hope sociologists haven’t trademarked that.) For days like this, I felt like stepping into my cut-out high tops by Maison Margiela. I love these sneakers because of their earthy tone, elevated tongue, and dynamic/unique sock exposure.

Now that our toes are taken care of, let’s move on to pants. I almost always make my way up to my waist with some black jeans. High-rise black jeans will forever, forever ever, forever, ever (Andre 3000 voice) be my go to.

Now for the top. Here I decided to wear a simple army green T-shirt (self-made into a crop top) to keep up with my sneaker tones as well as to emphasize my mesh cape on top. This cape has to be one of my favorite pieces on my rack. I have never seen anything like it. This mesh is fluent yet still, an obvious interlocking network of fabric. To this day I cannot get over it! I also love pieces like this because of their versatility and unisex nature. Unisex looks are definitely something I seek out on the racks. Shout out to ComplexGeometries.

Finally, to top it off is my gold chain (sparkle noise). You will always catch me with this chain! Gold is always a go. And that’s about it for my details guys; I’m not much of a makeup gal. Thank you for getting to know me and my bottom up effect.

The last thing I will leave you with is a new song. Music is so very important to me and affects every part of my life, including my taste in clothing. Every one of my outfits is inspired by lyrics, including the one featured in this spread. To soothe your soul and excite every brain cell, I give you “Instinct” by Roy Woods ft. MadeinTYO.
