STYLE GURU BIO: Morgan Arvoy

Hi! My name is Morgan Arvoy, and I am currently attending the Fashion Institute of Technology for Fashion Merchandising and Management. My interest in fashion started at a young age, and I am so excited to be able to share my knowledge and opinions about what I know best.

When I was in middle school, I was assigned a project that required me to write a paper about someone I admired. At the time, I was obsessed with the show Project Runway and chose Michael Kors as the person I admired. After hours of research, I found out many different things about Michael Kors, but the one thing that stood out to me was that he attended the Fashion Institute of Technology. From the moment I found that out, I was determined to go there. When I finally received my acceptance letter in the mail, I was the happiest I had ever been. Once I started school, I realized that FIT was everything I had hoped for and more.

My mom always tells me to dress how I want to dress and to not worry about other people’s opinions. I have always kept this thought in the back of my mind when I decide I want to wear something a little unusual. I don’t gravitate towards one specific style; I like to mix it up. A lot of my wardrobe consists of classic pieces that won’t go out of style. The only thing consistent throughout my wardrobe is a neutral palette. Whether I am feeling preppy, sophisticated, quirky or casual, I tend to keep to more neutral colors. Sometimes I add a fun pop of color with my shoes or other accessories.

In the pictures above, I am wearing a floral-patterned overall dress with a gray tank top underneath and low platform coral sandals. This outfit is a fun way to look different without being too over the top.

I’m excited to begin my semester as a first time writer for CollegeFashionista and hope to properly portray the fashion choices my peers have to offer at FIT!
