Welcome to 2017, and I hope everyone is having a RAD start to the new year. This is going to be my first semester as a Style Guru, and I could not be more excited! I am Mithzy Arciniega, and I am in my fourth year at Hofstra University. I am trying to complete a double major in global studies, and public relations.
I believe style is amazing in its ability to transform someone either physically, emotionally, or both! It is still hard to pinpoint what my exact style would be, or the name for it, since I love to experiment with different pieces. I will say that my comfort zone would be my red, and black plaid collared button up paired with denim jeans. This can be paired with booties to make it more dressy, or sneakers for casual comfort. I choose to pair the outfit with my gold buckled burgundy heeled booties to extend my height. I like to pair this with my backpack, which holds all my necessities both for school, and life. My makeup is pretty natural; I rarely do anything fancy. My main focus are eyebrows, and highlight which I make sure is subtle. And my hair is either in a bun, ponytail, or on the special days straightened, like in the picture above. And you can never go wrong with the dad hats. I have so many, but this denim hat pictured above is my favorite.
That is what I feel comfortable in. That is what I feel beautiful in.
However, a personal goal of mine is to experiment with more fabrics, material, and pieces. Fashion can transform someone who is usually preppy into sporty, or from bohemian to punk. It can take one into different scenes of life depending on what you choose to wear each day. It can leave a lasting impression on somebody before you ever open your mouth. That is some powerful mojo right there. I love having the power and ability to do all that.
Style should be about being comfortable, experimenting, and most importantly, style should be about having fun.
