STYLE GURU BIO: Miranda Jones

Hello fellow Fashionista/os! This is my first semester writing for CollegeFashionista and I’m so excited to be a Style Guru! I’m currently a sophomore studying Apparel Merchandising at Illinois State University. Even though I come from the suburbs I’m definitely a city girl at heart and hope that after I graduate I can move to California or New York and become a stylist to the stars.

I love fashion because every day is like playing dress up. It gives you the outlet to be whoever you want. One day you could be feeling girly and the next feel like wearing something bohemian inspired. For my personal style I love pieces that are trendy but with a twist and things that are edgy but versatile. In college there’s so many different types of people around you at all times and it’s so great to take inspiration from them and how they put their outfits together.

Some things you should know about me is I love TV (my favorite right now is American Horror Story) and movies (I love all kinds of movies but I have a guilty pleasure for indie films). Music plays a big part in my life too. I like my music up loud and something that I can sing at the top of my lungs to. I love pretty much all genres except screamo, opera and reggae. I love reading fashion magazines and I’m obsessed with Tumblr and YouTube. It’s a problem.

On days when I’m wanting to feel comfortable but still look put together, a casual dress is always the way to go. Today I was feeling like I wanted to wear something edgy and cool so I threw on this slip dress, a hat, my favorite kimono, some knee-high socks and my beloved combat boots.

For me fashion is the ultimate form of self-expression. I love the fact that you can create your outfit around how you feel on any given day. I’m excited to see the styles this spring brings us!
