STYLE GURU BIO: Mikaela Deladisma

Hey there! My name is Mikaela Deladisma and I’m a rising junior at New York University. I’m currently studying Economics with a minor in Business Studies planning to pursue a career in fashion business.

My love for fashion started somewhere along flipping through my mom’s subscriptions to InStyle and religiously watching Project Runway as a young girl. Since then, I’ve interned with accessories brands and showrooms based in Manhattan where I worked alongside some of the most inspiring entrepreneurs.

While living in the heart of the Village, I’ve seen countless unique styles that go beyond the sweatshirt and UGG boots getup of my hometown in suburban New Jersey. I constantly draw inspiration from my fellow classmates as I walk to class, along with the everyday New Yorkers that walk amongst them. With our lack of the traditional college campus, we become part of such an influential city’s fashion scene.

My style is pretty adaptable. While shopping, I tend to go for classic pieces; things that I can picture myself wearing with various outfit combinations. I like sticking to neutral colors and experimenting with accessories. Here I’m wearing a flowy long sleeve top, distressed white denim shorts I deconstructed, a simple bar necklace and a pair of silver platforms. I’m currently obsessed with the comeback of the denim skirt and platform sandals.

When I’m not in class, I can usually be found window shopping in SoHo, brunching or grabbing the free not-on-the-menu cupcake at Georgetown Cupcake. My goal while living in the city for the summer is to explore the other boroughs outside of Manhattan to get a sense of the fashion scene beyond my neighborhood.

I’m so excited to be part of CollegeFashionista this summer, and can’t wait to share the styles of NYU and the rest of New York City with all of you Fashionistas/os!
