STYLE GURU BIO: Meredith Jones

Hey babes! My name is Meredith Jones, better known as “Mere” to those close to me. Just to give you a little background about me, I am a freshman fashion merchandising major at Kent State University, and I could not be happier with where I am currently in my life! Fashion means so many things to me, and I am so happy to be a part of the CollegeFashionista family this semester!

I believe life is too short to not spend our time absorbed in the most intriguing elements of the world around us, whether it be the food we eat, the places we travel and, of course, the clothes we dress ourselves in. My personal style has changed over the years countless times. I often find myself receiving fashion inspiration from anything and everything. The world around us is in constant motion, as is the way we choose to express ourselves.

I often describe myself as a mess. I am most likely wearing unmatched socks and my hair may or may not be brushed, but the clothes I put on have always given me that feeling of togetherness. There is something about piecing different articles of clothing together to create something unique and beautiful that has always intrigued me, and that is why I chose to pursue an education and future career in fashion.

Some of the most magical pieces I own are from thrift stores or purchased from secondhand stores. I am not the first to own the key pieces in my look, and I enjoy discovering the character behind the items I purchase. A staple piece in my wardrobe is a floral maxi skirt or a comfy cardigan. Out of every piece in an outfit, I believe shoes can make or break you. Boots are my absolute favorite addition in fully creating a look, the almost distressed style leather is key. I believe in expression through fashion, and you have the opportunity to present yourself to the world in a whole new way each and every day, so I say take advantage of these chances. Every day is a clean slate, do with it what you want!
