STYLE GURU BIO: Margaux Forster

Bonjour mes amies! My name is Margaux Marine Forster and I am a student at Michigan State University. I am now officially a senior (woohoo!) pursuing a degree in Creative Advertising with a specialization in Design and a minor in French.

I am so excited to be joining the CollegeFashionista team for a second semester. I had such a blast getting to incorporate some of my favorite hobbies, fashion and photography, into my weekly routine, while also getting to work on my writing skills. This upcoming summer semester will be even more exciting because I will be posting from none other than New York City!

I have accepted an internship with Liberty Fashion and Lifestyle Fairs as a Retail Marketing intern. This company puts on tradeshows (imagine a giant convention center, but booths after booths of clothes) for men’s fashion brands in New York City and Las Vegas. I have been to New York City a few times before, but this will be my first extended stay in the big city.

A little bit more about me though. I am first and foremost a photographer, never had much of a chance to do so, but enjoy creative writing and just recently became more interested in fashion. I think that with my mother being French, and my aunt and her owning a European-inspired clothing boutique in my hometown, fashion just naturally developed as an interest of mine. I was a huge tomboy growing up but over the past couple of years I have developed my own personal style. I still favor comfortable and flowing fabrics but have incorporated a hippie and feminine touch, like this white maxi skirt, into my easy going ensembles. I do, of course, also love to wear all-black. My friends have described my style as hippie-punk. I’m still not exactly sure what that means, but I guess it works. I like trying new styles and experimenting with colors, textures and accessories. My favorite accessories are long statement necklaces, but most recently it is this Shinola watch that I received for my 21st birthday. I still have a lot I want to learn about fashion but am just taking it one beautiful Fashionista day at a time.
