Hello CollegeFashionista readers! My name is Madison Cleveland and I am so ecstatic to be a Style Guru this summer. I am currently a junior at Ohio University studying strategic communications and marketing. This summer I will be sharing fashion trends that I find in my hometown, Charlotte, NC and other travels.
Since I’m from the south, I have always had an appreciation for bright colors, summer whites and fun patterns. However, after being exposed to different trends in Ohio, I have become more willing to grow and try different styles. I enjoy finding new places to shop by searching on my own or reading my favorite fashion bloggers. Going from a large city to a small college town, I have learned to become an avid online shopper.
I think it’s important to have a wardrobe filled with neutrals and some pops of color. I like to buy classic items that transfer from year to year, but also a few trendier items. It’s important to be able to mix and match classic items with new trends. I would classify my style as girly. My favorite color is pink, and yes, it is found throughout my closet. I believe there’s always a way to wear a little bit of pink.
Today I went with a simple look that’s perfect for a hot summer day. This denim dress from Urban Outfitters and platform wedges from Sole Society are comfortable and stylish. Some of my favorite trendier shoes this season are platform wedges. They are incredibly comfortable and don’t compromise on style. For a pop of color I brought along my hot pink Kate Spade tote. And lastly, I paired this ensemble with some tortoiseshell sunglasses from Sole Society. I would wear this outfit for a lunch out in Charlotte or day of shopping. I know some people would stray away from such a large purse, but I love having the extra room for an umbrella or some makeup.
