STYLE GURU BIO: Madeleine Kidd

Welcome back to my blog Fashionistas! We have officially entered full fledge winter here in Ohio and you know what that means… scarves, sweaters, boots, and basically all things that keep us warm during these below zero, heart-wrenching days.

I am excited to get back in the groove of going to class, work, and writing my monthly blogs. As some of you may know, I am a visual communication design major. I work for two of Kent State University’s, on-campus magazine publications on the promotions and design teams. I hope to eventually work my way into a New York City-based magazine company upon my graduation. For me, like many other girls, it’s like Christmas every time my monthly Cosmopolitan arrives in the mail. For as long as I can remember, my dream has been to move to the city and live in a closet size apartment, so that is my plan.

When I’m not running around campus, you can usually find me at my favorite coffee shop downtown, or curled up in bed with a warm cup of joe. If it isn’t already clear, I survive strictly off of 10 cups of coffee a day. My biggest fashion statement usually is my choice of a mug for the day but here, I am wearing a white snap up body suit that fits perfectly in my high rise, mom fit black denim. After a long search, I finally found this amazing orange toned, fur oversized jacket. This kind of outwear can be outfitted for almost any occasion you are headed to. These deep chestnut riding booties are great to wear in the winter time along with some cuffed jeans. And as always, for accessories I am wearing my rounded glasses, a bulky vintage belt, and a simple black crossover purse. I like to say that I have a grunge day-to-day style, but for most of us we change what we wear based on how we are feeling. Some days I may be feeling fabulous, while others all I need is an XL flannel and I am set for the day.

I can’t wait to write about the inspiring fashion and art I experience every day on campus and to have a RAD semester with all you style gurus. I have many great things in store for the next few months, but until then…
