STYLE GURU BIO: Liz Stone

Hi everyone! I’m Liz, and I’m incredibly excited to start my first semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista! I’m a Florida native who is currently embarking on my third year at the University of South Florida as a public health and anthropology double major. I love my beautiful campus and the diversity that it offers, and I am so excited to share that with you all this semester!

I wanted to pursue being a Style Guru because though neither of my majors are related to fashion, media or communications right now, during my first year and a half at USF I was a mass communications major on a magazine track. I still maintain my love for photography and writing, so naturally I felt like this would be the perfect opportunity to continue to practice my passions despite no longer working on them in a classroom!

Being a Florida native, I love spending time outside in our beautiful sunny weather whenever possible, but especially during the (uncomfortably) warm and rainy late summer months you can often find me at my favorite local coffee house right off campus or curled up with my pup and my laptop watching Parks and Recreation or editing the photos from the most recent concert I went to.

I don’t believe that my style could ever be described in a concise manner because it changes from day to day and ranges between everything from the classic “running late to class in a pair of running shorts and a too-big T-shirt” to band tees and a beanie to an actually put together outfit featuring my favorite (probably floral) piece at the time.

Right now my go-to happy medium between it all often comes in the form of a cute T-shirt dress, a comfy pair of sandals and simple accessories. I’m not big on excessive jewelry and tend to opt for one or two statement pieces and then add on other more functional accessories like a flannel or lightweight cardigan. I find that comfort is key and one of the most important aspects of an outfit for me.

Here’s to a #RAD semester! I can’t wait to see where my time as a Style Guru will take me!
