STYLE GURU BIO: Lian Najarian

Hi everyone! I am so excited to be interning with CollegeFashionista for a second time during my spring semester of freshmen year. I am currently a student at the amazing Savannah College of Art and Design with a major in fashion marketing and management. CollegeFashionista is a way for me to communicate with Style Gurus around the world and see all of the trends on college campuses while showing you the trends I see here in Savannah! I cannot wait to get started again.

For a casual walk in the city, I always try to go for something very casual, comfy and, most importantly, stylish. I recently got these Madewell overalls and paired them with my favorite turtleneck shirt and cute leopard oxfords. I added on some statement earrings that include all of my go-to colors such as blue, black, yellow and gray. As you can see, there are so many different patterns mixed together in one outfit. That is my favorite part about fashion, mixing and experimenting. To be honest, I never would have thought about putting all of these contrasting colors and patterns together until I tried them all on with each other. The stripes are subtle, the earrings are delicate, and the shoes are not overpowering. It all works together.

This look reminded me a lot of Orla Kiely’s pre-fall 2016 collection, which includes staple pieces that can be casual or dressed up depending on what you make it. It also displays the pattern and color play that is important in any outfit.

Here is to a #RAD semester and playing with color, pattern and texture in fashion!
