STYLE GURU BIO: Lauren Shamo

Hello fashion lovers of the Internet! My name is Lauren Shamo. I am a junior at the one and only Michigan State University, Go Green! As of this past year I decided to double major in Media and Information as well as Advertising. My plan is to pursue the creative sides of these two fields.

When I was in sixth grade, my mom picked me up a Teen Vogue magazine. I remember Gemma Ward being on the cover. This was my first interaction with fashion (outside of the Hollister and Abercrombie & Fitch world I was committed to at the time…). From there on out, I got my subscription to that glorious magazine and by high school, I started to create a style for myself.

It wasn’t until I went to college that I started dressing more and more out of my comfort zone all while trying to look very put together. I wouldn’t say I’m one exact style. I enjoy mixing a lot of different things. My style changes day to day and I love that about myself! I don’t usually do anything too drastic but little things really put together my outfit. I usually can tweak an outfit a few times before I get it looking exactly how I pictured it in my head. I know that certain pieces can make an outfit preppy or edgy, and they matter the most!

What I am wearing above is one of my favorite outfits. The oversized flannel is so unique and a cool twist on the flannel trend that has come into play the past year. The booties I’m wearing are my all time favorite shoe because they go with everything! I bought them a few years ago from Nordstrom, but you can check out a somewhat updated version of them from Dolce Vita‘s website. I honestly want a pair of the newer ones too! Leggings are an essential for most outfits I wear, due to their ability to go with a lot and how comfy they are. Another essential I am wearing above is my pocket tee from Urban Outfitters. It is so simple and pulls a lot of my outfits together. Lastly, I have my pearl ring passed down through my family and my My Name Necklace. I think these necklaces are so incredibly important to have. They are a great change in your stacked necklaces and they’re gorgeous!

If you were to look into my closet right now you would find a lot of different pieces. It’s good to be different! The people who inspire me or who I occasionally copy vary from day to day. Playing around with your look is fun to me and I’m happy to be sharing some of my favorite styles with all of you! As a brand new Style Guru, I am so excited to see where the summer and CollegeFashionista takes me!
