STYLE GURU BIO: Kim Truong

January 20th, 2017 at 2:00am

Hi, my name is Kim Truong! I am currently a freshman at Loyola University Chicago, studying biology in hopes of becoming a physician assistant. It may sound like an unconventional major and career choice considering my love for fashion and this internship, but I’ve truly grown up with a strong desire to work in the medical field, while also simultaneously flipping through Vogue and living out my fashion dream. I am from the suburbs of Chicago, and I am so excited to be able to have the great opportunity to be a Style Guru this semester, in one of my favorite cities in the world.

Although I am only 19 years old and still a very perplexed college student, wondering what I’ll be having for dinner nonetheless how I’ll be able to get a job or into physician assistant school, I spend my days stalking various fashion blogs, feeding my shopping addiction, and pinning things to my Pinterest boards.

I’ve had a love for fashion since I was a child, when I dressed up as Coco Chanel and presented an entire project on her in fifth grade. Ever since then, I learned to sketch and sew, in hopes of becoming my very own Coco Chanel. Even though I have grown up quite a bit since then, my love for fashion, style, and clothing has only grown. I love finding new fashion pieces and trends in my everyday life, and I dress to whatever my mood is each day. No matter where I am or what I’m doing, I am constantly in search for new style and fashion inspiration.

No matter who you are, or where you come from, fashion gives each person the ability to express themselves in their own unique ways, which is why I love it so much. In one of my classic outfits, a sweater dress, trench jacket, beanie, and boots, I am able to show my personal everyday style. This is definitely an outfit I’ll probably be repeating the entire semester, in hopes of surviving Chicago’s winter and rainy spring.
