STYLE GURU BIO: Kelsey Shoemaker

My name is Kelsey. I am from Denton, Texas and a junior at the University of North Texas, majoring in journalism with a focus in photojournalism and a minor in photography. It is always hard to dress for Texas weather because you never really know what you’re going to get. The style on campus is very fashionable and inspires my own wardrobe. The style of Denton has been classified as a fashion capsule because everyone dresses like they’re in the ’80s. I’m so glad and excited to start writing for CollegeFashionista. I’ve been into fashion ever since I can remember, and once I started college, I knew I wanted my career to have a fashion aspect to it. Thank you CollegeFashionista.

My personal style is mostly monochromatic with a good cardigan and basic shoes of some kind. I’m usually always wearing black or white—no matter what the occasion is. My closet is full of variety, so every day I can try to do something different while keeping true to my personal style. I prefer wearing simple basics with leggings or jeans. I like having a mixture of comfort and fashion in my style, and I think I found the perfect in-between of those two.

I decided to showcase my everyday style in these photos. I’m wearing a basic, long black shirt, black leggings, Adidas, a large mustard yellow cardigan, and a black purse. Large pullover cardigans like this one are perfect for windy days in Texas where it’s not too hot but not too cold. A good basic shirt underneath is good as well because anything with a pattern or texture would not match with this kind of cardigan.

I’m so excited to give more fashion advice throughout the semester.
