STYLE GURU BIO: Kathy Wilbourne

Hey guys! I’m so happy to be back with CollegeFashionista for a third semester! For those of you who haven’t read any of my articles before, my name is Kathy Wilbourne and I am a junior at Lyon College. Apart from being a business management and art double major, I am also one of two captains of my cheerleading team, a sister of the Chi Omicron sorority and a part time cake decorator. After graduating from Lyon College, I plan to attend graduate school and get my MBA in some sort of fashion related study.

In my spare time, I enjoy writing fashion articles, brushing up on my French and indulging in my addictions, such as bright colored lipstick, shoes and Juicy Couture, all of which can be seen above. My lipstick is a favored shade of red by Bare Minerals, another addiction of mine, and my black and white platforms are no doubt my favorite pair of Juicy Couture shoes thus far.

As mentioned before, I don’ t have excessive knowledge of the fashion industry, only what I’ve learned through a clothing class in high school, two semesters with CollegeFashionista and whatever research I do in my spare time. Fashion is not a well sought after study in Arkansas, and only one college in the entire state offers an apparel studies degree, meaning the majority of my knowledge of the fashion industry does come from my own research. However, this has yet to stop me from pursuing my passion.

I’m still working on figuring out my own personal style, but if I had to sum it up it would be preppy and classy with a hint of random. The first two are self-explanatory while my sense of random comes from my love of oxymorons in fashion: pairing floral summer dresses with leather jackets and combat boots being a personal favorite.

I’m so excited to be back for another semester! I hope to only improve each semester and to continue to write articles that you guys enjoy!
