STYLE GURU BIO: Julie Catone

Home: the place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household. Long Island: an island located just off the northeast coast of the United States and a region within the state of New York.

That’s right. I’m in Long Island for the summer! I couldn’t be more thrilled to be bringing CollegeFashionista to my hometown and showing you all how we do fashion here. It’s going to be a nice change of pace from being in upstate New York. My big summer plans include making a giant dent in my book pile, getting my driver’s license, applying for fall internships, traveling, and of course, continue writing. In my last STYLE GURU BIO I talked about how I felt that 2015 was going to be a big year for me, and so far, it has been. I have had my work published on various websites and have even been paid for one of my pieces. I am so grateful that I am only twenty years old and I get to do what I love.

Another thing I wish to do this summer is land a job. It can be hard to dress for a job or an interview during the warmer months. You want to be comfortable and still look professional which can be hard, especially in the humidity. I’ll be trying to beat the heat in sundresses. At an appropriate length, a sundress can be a great outfit choice for work! Depending on your work environment, you can accessorize with jewelry and experiment with different patterns and textures. I’m in love with my green dress from Francesca’s. I may or may not have bought it because I feel like a Double Mint girl in it.

Tag along every Monday for a glimpse to see what it’s like to live and dress on Long Island. I’m so excited to share my summer with you!
