STYLE GURU BIO: Jordan Shiley

Hello there! My name is Jordan Shiley and I’m a junior communications major at James Madison University. I’m a happy go lucky girl from a small town with big city dreams. I’m hoping to someday move to either New York or San Diego to work in the fashion, music or entertainment industry. The focus of my degree is in public relations, but I’m open to other opportunities such as being a social media coordinator, executive assistant or magazine columnist. I’m open to pretty much anything that may have a new and exciting adventure waiting for me each day.

My hobbies range from teaching group exercise classes at our gym on campus to letting my creativity run deep while playing guitar to cuddling up with a bag of peach rings while binge watching Game of Thrones. I’m a glamour enthusiast, music aficionado, coffee addict, optimist and fitness fanatic. My love for fashion is specifically what drove me to become a Style Guru. I have such a well-rounded sense of style that I wanted to share a little bit of myself with the world so that I might inspire yours as well.

My personal style varies from day to day depending on the weather, my mood and where I’m going. I like to piece together anything from rocker chic to trendy urban. The look I’m featuring in this article is one of my more urban casual styles. For this, I’ve paired a plunging v-neck bodysuit from Forever 21 with one of their strappy bralettes underneath to give it a unique edge without having to load up on uncomfortable jewelry. I’ve paired this with my favorite destroyed high-waisted shorts from American Eagle Outfitters. These nicely complement my blacked out Nike Air Huarache sneakers to give the look a sporty yet edgy vibe.

For my outerwear, I’m rocking my favorite dusty pink bomber jacket, which is a bandwagon I’m riding until it crashes and burns. I love the way it can dress down any look but still make it trendy. My go-to is usually my leather moto jacket, but this may soon trump it as a new favorite.

My accessories are simple but staple. I’m wearing an acid washed Washington Wizards ball cap to add onto the sportiness of this look. I wear hats all the time because I love how they can completely change the look of an outfit. This one in particular adds more edginess because of the light acid wash. For jewelry I’ve added a few simple rings, both regular and midi, to bring out my nude manicure and add a small portion of glam to this casual outfit.

Fashion is one of the best ways to express your personality, which is one of the reasons why it’s so prevalent and diverse in every culture. I’m so beyond stoked to share the different styles I find at JMU with you all!
