Hello CollegeFashionista readers and fellow Style Gurus! My name is Jenna Curcio. I am from Rochester, New York and I am currently attending Genesee Community College with a major in fashion business with a concentration in merchandising.

Fashion is something that has truly always been a part of my life. From dressing up Barbies to pursuing a career in New York City in the fashion industry, it’s always been there in some major aspect. I remember that when I was little I never enjoyed coloring books quite like I enjoyed creating my own designs and outfits. I think I still have some of my earliest sketches.

I believe fashion is an art form, one where you can express yourself and send a message. Whether that message is, “I don’t care what I look like today” or, “I want to look like I just stepped off of the runway,” fashion affects everyone’s life in some way. Art is everywhere, inspiration is everywhere, and fashion is nothing without them.

I have several inspirations in fashion and in life. My main inspiration is Elsa Schiaparelli, the famous and revolutionary fashion designer in the early 20th century. Her experience in the industry, her innovations, and remarkable accomplishments inspire me each day to never give up no matter what hardships may happen and to keep moving forward, and never let anyone or anything stifle my knowledge and passions. Audrey Hepburn is another inspiration, not only for her iconic style but her persona and sense of humanity is truly admirable. Her efforts against the Nazis in WWII performing as a ballerina combined with her impeccable fashion sense and humanitarian actions show me that you can live your life the way you want to and stand for what you believe in while still being stylish.

I have a passion for standing up for injustice. I firmly believe that social justice is a huge part of the fashion industry and fashion itself is an art form and can be empowering for anyone. I believe there are flaws in the industry that I can help fix in the future. I have a passion for traveling and other cultures all over the world.  I have a passion for exquisite and elegant haute couture. My heritage is Italian and that alone has sparked an interest in the Italian world and history of fashion. My goals include representing a major label or brand and having an important career in the fashion industry that allows me to travel and expand my horizons indefinitely by providing me with a plethora of opportunities.

This semester I am looking forward to sharing my fashionable findings with you and this opportunity in general.  Most of my outfit is from everyone’s favorite affordable fast-fashion store for college students on a budget, Forever 21.  The cable knit sweater can be found here, a similar faux crystal pendant necklace can be found here and the faux leather structured cross body bag can be found here.
