STYLE GURU BIO: Jayna Taylor-Smith

Hey there my fellow Fashionistas/os! My name is Jayna Taylor-Smith and this is my second semester writing for CollegeFashionista.

The last time I was scouting stylish students at the University of Florida was the during the trend of crop tops and high-waisted shorts in the summer of 2015. Now I’ll be keeping my eye out to see how students transition from winter to spring in the new year. Though Florida tends to lack seasons, the first few months of the year in Gainesville can get a bit chilly. I can’t wait to see how everyone keeps their personal touch without losing it under all the layers.

My style however doesn’t change too much with the seasons. Whether it’s the middle of winter or the middle of summer, I love colors. Neutrals are hardly ever my go to. I think I own one nude lipstick because my Revlon Kiss Me Coral is my all time favorite lip color to wear. Ironically though, my outfit in this look is made up of the two most neutral colors I can think of: black and white.

Black and white, especially in the form of stripes is undoubtedly a match made in heaven. When the time is right I absolutely love dressing up, but today a took on a simpler approach. I’m not one for accessories as I am for makeup. For this look I wore a pair of dainty earrings, but used my Lorac Pro 2 palette to create a soft smokey eye. I added my pop of color with my NARS velvet matte lip pencil in Cruella. It gives me a certain red lip, classic thing that I like (yes, I am a Swifty).

Coming back as a Style Guru, I hope that my posts can offer some inspiration in your every day looks or even looks for a special occasion. Remember, style doesn’t have any rules, so wear what you want when you want!
