Welcome Fashionistas/os! My name is Ibadete Ferko. I am currently a junior at Kutztown University, studying communications studies with a minor in public relations. This is my first semester as Style Guru for CollegeFashionista, and I am so excited to begin this journey!
One major part of me is that I am a bona fide city girl. Growing up in Philadelphia has not only given me a better perspective on life but also has molded me into the person I am today. So telling my friends I was in love with my school always left them completely shocked because (gasp) it’s in the middle of nowhere in Pennsylvania! Like most college students, it took some soul searching to find out what exactly I was planning to do with my life, but my awakening was a clipping of my icon Gisele Bündchen from an issue of Vogue that I had since I was seven years old. At that point, I realize that I belong in the fashion world.
A typical day in my life is spent brunching and reading countless fashion articles or magazines. Fun fact: I had over 200 magazines by the time I was 13 years old, and I refused to throw any of them away. I also enjoy writing, and within the last year, it has become a passion of mine, especially since I currently write weekly articles for The Odyssey.
My personal style is always changing. One day, I wake up and I really want to capture a ’90s Carrie Bradshaw look with a tank top and some pumps, and then the next day, a quick ponytail with a sweatshirt and high boots matches my mood.
