STYLE GURU BIO: Erica Lombardi

Ever since the Internet was accessible to me, I can remember exploring the web in search of fashion. Browsing through high fashion webpages and reading up on the latest trends of the rich and famous became a part of my life very early on. As a preteen, I obsessed over luxury brands and knew details about the lives of my favorite designers. While my obsession of keeping up with high fashion trends has helped me develop a love for the finer things in life, the reality of my not-so-impressive bank account has led me to find my own personal style, while maintaining a college girl’s budget.

After just finishing my second year at Rutgers University, I have realized that my style has become a way to stay true to myself amongst the chaos of such a large, diverse university. Growing up on a small island in South Jersey has made me appreciate the laid back atmosphere of my youth, as well as the bohemian, laid back style that is prevalent in the area. I live for flowy dresses, earthy sandals and ethereal body jewelry. Clothing that emanates the beach or nature always catches my eye and puts a smile on my face.

Aside from totally boho frocks, I have begun to draw inspiration from decades of the past. ’60s retro flared legs, ’70s fringe and ’90s chokers and band T-shirts have all made a comeback in my wardrobe, adding a little edge to my generally muted and mellow sense of style. The uber diverse and fashion forward student body at Rutgers makes being experimental a little less intimidating.

Being able to share with you all of the chic, risk-taking, fashion forward looks that catch my eye around campus and throughout my summer travels makes me so incredibly excited. I can’t wait to get to know you all and share my most stylish summer yet!
