STYLE GURU BIO: Erica Goldish

Hi, I’m Erica and I am so excited to be a Style Guru this spring. I mostly stick to clean lines and neutral colors, although I do love to mix in a bold print every once in awhile. I follow Song of Style (Aimee Song) and Sincerely, Jules (Julie Sarinana) on Instagram and love how they incorporate simple items to create a fashionable and versatile outfit. This outfit is a perfect example of something I would wear to class, brunch or when exploring the city of New Orleans with my friends. I have seen hues of chocolate brown and lipstick red trending this fall/winter, which I incorporated in my boots, and with my lighter red shirt and dark maroon sweater.

I love shoes, especially boots, and I am always trying to find boots that can be worn throughout every season. In this look, I incorporated my favorite Steve Madden boots which can be worn with just about everything. I love how these shoes can be taken from fall to spring, whether it is pairing them with jeans and a sweater or a summer dress.

My favorite item of clothing would have to be a great pair of dark blue skinny jeans that you can dress up or down. The Madewell boyfriend jeans I am wearing are pretty casual and are perfect for going to class or for when brunching with friends. This look could also work with a skirt and tights or skinny jeans to change it up.

Having a cozy go-to sweater is crucial in the fall, and especially in the winter in New Orleans. This maroon sweater is super soft and can easily go with browns, blues or basically any T-shirt and jeans look. The shirt is a bit nicer quality than your everyday T-shirt, which makes it easy to dress down like in my look or dress up with nice jeans or a skirt and heels for going out at night.

I also am a huge fan of accessories. Sunglasses and some simple rings or bracelets can make any outfit look chic. I opted for gold jewelry with this look because I felt that the browns and dark reds of my shirt, sweater and boots looked better with gold rather than silver. I also opted for a gold necklace with a blue pop to add some contrast to the look.

One technique I am planning on incorporating as a Style Guru this semester is the use of makeup, specifically a bold lip. I also want to use nail polish as an accessory to perfect a look that pops. Chiara Ferragni, also known as The Blonde Salad, usually wears a bold red lip and wears lots of print, so I will be trying to incorporate parts of her style into some of my looks for this semester.
