STYLE GURU BIO: Emily Williams

Hey everyone! My name is Emily Williams and I’m a sophomore journalism major with a fashion merchandising minor at the University of Georgia. I was born and raised in Charlottesville, Virginia, but when it came time to choose a college I decided I wanted to go somewhere new. I ended up narrowing down my choices to a smaller school in a big city, and the University of Georgia. Ultimately the culture and people of Athens, Georgia won. Although Athens may not be big, there’s always a new restaurant to try or a new boutique to shop at. The great thing about going to a big school is all the diversity it brings. I’m constantly inspired by all the different styles and trends that I see on campus.

When I was in middle school my mom took me to see the movie The Devil Wears Prada, and I’ve become obsessed with being a part of the fashion industry ever since. My favorite part about fashion today is how accessible it is via technology and social media. I love that a celebrity can be photographed wearing something on the red carpet and I can see it mere seconds later.

I’m obsessed with Audrey Hepburn, which lends a lot of influence to my personal style. I tend to favor classic silhouettes and I love bows, pearls and pastel colors. In terms of modern day style influences, I love anything and everything Emma Stone wears on the red carpet. But, if I could think up a dream closet for myself it would be a combination of Blair Waldorf and Serena van der Woodsen’s wardrobes from Gossip Girl. My personal style, much like my taste in music, is constantly changing. At the moment I find myself gravitating towards anything bohemian or ’70s-inspired. For the winter weather I’m loving billowy sweaters paired with jeans, mini skirts and dresses with over-the-knee boots and vests worn over T-shirt dresses.

I’m so excited to start interning with CollegeFashionista this semester and I can’t wait to see what new experiences it will bring!
