STYLE GURU BIO: Emily Pierce

Bonjour, fellow Fashionistas! My name is Emily Pierce and I am currently a junior at Illinois State University majoring in Apparel Merchandising with a minor in Business Administration. This is my first semester joining the CollegeFashionista family, and I could not be more excited!

My fashion story starts from back as long as I can remember. Sources say it all began the day I was born, rocking those in-style baby clothes my mother had so graciously picked out for me. Opinionated to say the least, as years went on my wardrobe began to consist of pieces that resembled my style, no matter the opinion of others.

Fast-forward and my love of fashion has definitely developed over the years. Bringing it back to my first job in retail, at a little boutique, Aesthetics, in my so-called small town of Johnsburg, Illinois is where it all began to click for me. Working here throughout high school and stopping in whenever I get the chance now has shown me essentially all I’ve known to love about fashion and my style today. Whether it was going buying for the store with my mentor, or even helping women and ladies find what works best for them while shopping at the boutique. Each and every moment it helps me develop my own sense of style in this crazy fashion world while helping others find theirs. Living such a small town lifestyle has shown me great appreciation for all of the styles and trends out there in the big cities. Making my desire to travel out of this world.

A little about me nowadays? You can catch me at any local coffee shop on campus, most likely wearing burgundy and gold, either readying a book, magazine or writing for CollegeFashionista! Sitting on campus drinking coffee and finding inspiration to incorporation into my own style is one of my favorite things to do. I am also a self-diagnosed shop-a-holic who is always down for something new in her wardrobe.

This outfit is one that is perfect for expressing who I am. Black, black and more black! That is my go-to color that you can always catch me in and hey, who doesn’t love that one black “festie” dress? It shows you a little but of my casual side seeing as wearing dresses is a norm to me and my fun side with my large brim patterned hat and all black wedge. “Dress Shabbily and they remember the dress; Dress impeccably and they remember the woman.” Always remember this Fashionistas/os!
