STYLE GURU BIO: Emily Kopchak

Hello lovely Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Emily Kopchak, and this fall I am starting my sophomore year as a fashion merchandising major at Kent State University. I am completing minors in graphic design and fashion media as well.

Fashion has always been in the corner of my brain since I was very young. My mother has told me stories of when I would make my family wait for me as I would layer on necklaces, bracelets and other accessories before leaving the house. Elementary school-aged me was hardcore with those pink pieces of plastic. If someone had told her she would eventually be studying fashion at college, I bet she would have been pretty excited.

I have always had some difficulty in describing my personal style. I think part of it is because I rarely get rid of my old clothing. Because of this, my closet is home to a wide array of garments. I enjoy having a style that is day-to-day. That is one of my favorite things about fashion. A person could have a distinct, consistent style or decide to dress boho one day and sport the athleisure trend the next.

Speaking of athleisure, it is one of the influences in the outfit I chose for my bio. The sneaker-influenced ballet flats add something trendy to the feminine patterned dress, thrifted denim jacket and unique leather bracelet that make up the look.

I cannot wait to share more of my fashion appreciation and experiences with you all in future posts on CollegeFashionista!
