STYLE GURU BIO: Emily Corbett

Hi everyone! I’m Emily and I am beyond excited to get on board with CollegeFashionista this semester!

A little background on me: I am from an extremely tiny town in South Carolina called Summerton. I just completed my sophomore year at the University of South Carolina as a fashion merchandising major. However, this was not always my path. When I started freshman year I was a biology major. How does one go from biology to fashion merchandising you may ask? First there were tears, a lot of tears, and eventually I realized that I did not have a passion for biology at all.  The thought of studying fashion merchandising got me excited about school again.

I believe Rachel Zoe said it best, “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.” I love fashion for its ability to allow people to express themselves how they want. I would describe my personal style as classic, feminine and fun. I love a good blazer (I switched out the button on mine) and have been known to rock a pair of sequin pants other than on New Year’s Eve. I’m really into co-ord sets as well. Basically if I could live in Taylor Swift’s 1989 tour wardrobe, I totally would. Accessories for me are on the simpler side. A watch and a few small bracelets plus my beloved monogram necklace are all I really need. Oh, and sunglasses, these are the ones I’m wearing in the photos above.

This summer I will be in Columbia mostly, leaving a few times to go on family vacation and to visit some friends. I hope to include local as well as non-local Fashionistas/os in my articles, and I hope you enjoy reading them! Stay #RAD and go Gamecocks!
