STYLE GURU BIO: Elizabeth McBride

Hello fellow Fashionistas! My name is Elizabeth McBride and this is my first semester as Style Guru for CollegeFashionista and I could not be more excited. I am currently a student at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island studying theatre and psychology. Since I could remember I have had a love affair with fashion and beauty. When I was a little girl, I would stay up for hours cutting up fashion magazines and making collages out of them to put on my bedroom walls. I view fashion not only as a form of personal expression but as a form of art. I am unsure of exactly what I want to do in the future but I have begun to realize that whatever it is, I want to try to include my passion for fashion into it, something I did not realize I could do which is one of the many reasons why I am taking part in CollegeFashionista.

I find inspiration everywhere, whether it is on the pages of a fashion magazine, fashion weeks and the runway or what my friends and peers are wearing. My personal style ranges depending on the day, my mood and the season. I do not have a particular fixed style because I get bored easily and like to change up my look regularly. My current wardrobe essentials are my Steve Madden brown boots that I got my semester abroad in London, flannels, crop tops, flower crowns and patterned dresses. The thing I find the most interesting about fashion is how it has the ability to express someone’s personality and individuality. Fashion is always changing and I really enjoy expressing myself through what I wear.

The outfit I wore for my Style Guru Bio is currently a typical outfit that I would wear in the summer. I like how a crop top can add dimension to an outfit while still being simple and effortless. I chose to wear a pair of shorts that were a different material from jeans to make the outfit a little less ordinary. I got the crop top and maroon floral lace shorts from Forever 21. The Choker necklace is an ode to the late ’90s and early 2000s, a trend I have been experimenting with a little bit. My boots are Steve Madden and I added a neutral colored lightweight cardigan from American Eagle Outfitters for when it cools down at night.

With this being my first semester as a Style Guru, I look forward to absorbing as much as I possibly can. I look forward to improving my writing and photography skills and capturing the styles my campus has to offer. This internship has also given me the confidence to start up my fashion and beauty blog that I have wanted to do for years so I am excited to apply what I learn here to my blog. I would love it if you joined me on this adventure and check out my posts every Thursday to see whats new and exciting from RWU.
