STYLE GURU BIO: Elizabeth Kim

Hello, it’s me. I bet a bit of Adele’s song just played in your head (sorry, I had to). Anyways, I am so glad to be back here! My name is Elizabeth, and first and foremost, what you need to know about me is that I am a shopaholic. Before entering college, I used to make trips to the mall every weekend. Shopping releases endorphins for me; it is essentially retail therapy. Now, I am trying to cut down on the spending.

If you do not know already from my bio, I am currently a Communication Studies major at the University of California, Los Angeles. I’m not too sure what I want to do with my major, but I am hoping the magazine industry does not die out when I graduate—fingers crossed. People often say books and printed works are on the brink of extinction. However, I think there will be times where we prefer traditional writing and publishing. For example, I hate reading eBooks, because my vision becomes blurry after awhile and I get a headache. Besides, there is something more official and authentic to holding a tangible book in your hands versus reading online.

Don’t get me wrong; I still love using Instagram, Facebook and of course, CollegeFashionista. I could never disconnect from technology and the Internet. In fact, some of my favorite hobbies include editing and posting photos, free-writing on my blog and pinning ideas for new projects. Pinterest is a heaven of aesthetically pleasing designs.

So, onto the important stuff. You can usually catch me in neutral colors, but my style ranges from preppy and formal to boho. It usually just depends on my mood. You can mold style to your liking, it does not always have to be one or the other. In this post, I decided to go with casual and more of mix-and-match. We are currently in winter season, but, as everyone knows, California only has two variations: warm and less warm. That is why I wear skirts even during the winter, although usually with leggings. Here, I am wearing a black denim skirt from Topshop. Even though it is denim, the bottom is slightly flared so you can still move around freely in it. For a looser and more flowy vibe, I paired it with a floral blouse. When I am also looking to add a touch of femininity, I go with floral prints. I can always count on Free People to carry those bohemian floral tops and dresses. My brown sandals are perfect for warmer days, and if you live somewhere like California, maybe you can wear these to the beach (yes, even in the winter).

I am looking forward to working with all of you Fashionistas and Fashionistos again! Have a great winter break and take advantage of those holiday sales so you can stock up on new outfits for the year. Make sure to check back for new posts!
