Hello, Fashionistas/os! My name is Delaney Mann and this is my first semester writing for CollegeFashionista. I am beyond excited to share some of my tips and tricks with you, while also learning from the other amazing members on the team. Last year, I attended the beautiful University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, but decided that fashion was a huge passion of mine and transferred to the University of Wisconsin Colleges Online. I am now taking classes for my major, Fashion Merchandising and Marketing, in hopes of transferring to Mt. Mary University next year.
I live in an extremely small town where wearing camouflage is an everyday must, but I have never been a fan of that. Born in Oregon, moving to California and finally to Wisconsin has left a different sense of style in me. All of these different influences have definitely shown in the pieces that I love to wear. I would identify my style as a wide mix of girly, bohemian and just a little bit edgy. Also, bows are my favorite accessory! In the summer months, the California girl in me comes out full swing with high-waisted shorts, crop tops and beach waves in my hair.
As a little girl, fashion was not a top priority. Nothing that I wore matched and I never really understood how to put outfits together that didn’t make your eyes hurt. Somewhere along the line as I grew older, I started to be influenced by what I saw in magazines or on television. My favorite celebrities, such as Selena Gomez, started to inspire the way I wanted to dress. During this time, I also started watching the beauty guru community on YouTube and I found inspiration from girls who also loved everything that I did. They were all so down to earth and I felt like we would be best friends, so I decided to make my own channel. While I’m not nearly at the level they are because I just started, I absolutely love having a hobby that may allow me to achieve my dreams.
Style and fashion are unique for every single person. I think that fashion is a way to tell someone who you are without saying a word. I think this is why I fell in love with this industry. Your outfit can express how you are feeling without even uttering a sound.
