STYLE GURU BIO: Danielle Moore

Hello Fashionistas! My name is Danielle and I’m studying human communications, while also pursuing minors in mass communication and dance in my last year at the University of Central Florida. I have a wide variety of interests including art, music, nature, environmental issues, psychology and film. My incredibly indecisive Libra tendencies made it difficult for me to determine what I ultimately wanted to spend the rest of my life doing. After nearly two years of soul searching and contemplation, I went to an interest that has stuck with me throughout the years. I am hoping to pursue a career in the fashion industry and what a better way to begin than with writing about it. This is my first semester as a Style Guru and words cannot describe how excited I am to go on this journey with all of you.

Growing up, fashion and style were huge ways that I bonded with my sister. With a five-year age gap, it was often hard for us to find ways to relate to each other but eventually we reached compatible ages to begin sharing clothes. Whenever we have family outings or holidays our first question to one another is, “What are you going to wear?”

I spend a slew of time online shopping (mostly browsing) and exploring new and old trends. Even though I do put time and effort into the clothes I wear, I do it as a form of art and self-expression. Today in American society, everything seems to be highly revolved around physical appearances. Beauty is defined by what is pleasurable to you; it is both intrinsic and extrinsic. Beauty is communicating the essence that you are. For this reason, I cannot define my style. It changes depending on my mood, the day, the event and simply on what I like. I stick to mainly comfortable and simple pieces with neutral tones. Pictured above is a shirt from Topshop, skater skirt from Forever 21, mules and bucket bag from Urban Outfitters, and vintage earrings from my grandmother.
