STYLE GURU BIO: Danielle Kavanaugh

Hey, everyone! My name is Danielle Kavanaugh. I am going to be a junior at DePaul University this fall. I’m currently studying Marketing with a double minor in Digital Cinema and Environmental Studies.

I would describe my style similarly to how I would describe my major and minors: I like a taste of a little bit of everything. I live off of trying new things and seeing new places. I want to learn as much as humanly possible about this world and the people in it. I feel as though I’ve picked up a little bit of something from each person I’ve met and place that I’ve been. Whether that be at school, work or overseas, I’ve been inspired by all of the unique attributes I’ve witnessed in people or in different places. Therefore, I would say that my style, while having boho roots, also has minimalist, edgy and preppy branches. Each distinct type of style has been added to my closet from various different influences I’ve encountered in my life. The outfit that I have on in the picture above reminded me most of the beautiful sunny days I spent in southern Spain last summer. The print on the dress brought back memories of visiting Moorish palaces in Seville, where vibrant mosaics are displayed across walls.

Many of the pieces that I have in my closet are reflective of a place or person that has significantly influenced me and added a new perspective to my life. My favorite lightweight coat brings to mind the streets around DePaul University that become lined with earthy shades of leaves during the fall while my go-to wedges were inspired by my friend who has the best shoe closet of any person I’ve met. Although, I’ve tried many different styles throughout the years, I have a few must-have pieces in my wardrobe. My closet staples are circle skirts and skinny jeans; I have almost every shade imaginable because I find them to be incredibly versatile. The same light wash skinny jeans can be used to create almost any different style.

This is my first semester at CollegeFashionista, and I’m very excited to bring you all on this journey with me!
