STYLE GURU BIO: Danielle Gasparro

Greetings and Salutations friends! I’m Danielle Gasparro and I’m about to begin my final year at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia. While living in the mountain state, I’m studying fashion merchandising, public relations and women’s and gender studies. I am very eager to start my third semester with CollegeFashionista scouting out the best fashions here at WVU.

Fashion has always been my favorite form of creativity and I live for the people who don’t want to blend in with the basic. Whether it’s standing out with some different colors, pushing the limits with prints or playing around with textures, I want fashion to be different. We are so lucky to be in a time where originality in fashion really seems to be flourishing. Instagram, Twitter and blogging has made it easy for people to share their personal style, ideas, inspirations and everything in between. For example, I am a pop culture fanatic and I wait all year for red carpet season. For the past two seasons, I have live-tweeted about the red carpet coverage and add fun and sassy commentary with pictures. I love seeing each celebrity’s choice of designers and hearing about the inspiration of their looks, which probably took all year to plan. So if you need a new favorite red carpet correspondent, come find me!

Unlike most of the glamorous people of the red carpet, I put together this look rather quickly. Warm weather means everything to me because I thrive in skirts and flats. I have been obsessing over knee length skirts lately, they are the ideal piece for work and play. So when I found this floral printed box pleat skirt, it was instant love. Pairing it with a simple cotton T-shirt, makes it perfect for a June day. I enjoy having quirky conversation pieces within in my wardrobe, that’s where my accessories come in. My cat flats and fork ring add that perfect eccentric touch. I finished this look off with a funky purse that was a great Goodwill find.

When I put together a look, I pull a note from RuPaul and call it serving. The look I am serving is “Modern Day Mary Poppins Apprentice.” Make sure you stop by every month this summer to see what I have to say about the local looks being served here at West Virginia University.
