STYLE GURU BIO: Cameron Thomas

Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is Cameron Kira Thomas and I am a sophomore attending Temple University for acting. I am extremely elated to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. I’m usually the most indecisive person, but fashion happens to be the one thing that I have kept consistent with throughout the years.

I was the little kid that would take their mother’s pretty bed sheets and curtains and cut them up to make dresses that I could wear around the house; therefore, you could say I’ve always had a passion for style and fashion. Attending a film school for high school has increased my appreciation of visuals and photography. Since then my love for style and the camera have fused together.

My style changes everyday. I can go from bohemian-chic, to ‘90s fashion, to feminine and edgy and by the end of the week I’ll end up with something classic and fancy. My favorite quote is from Lauren Hutton who said, “Fashion is what you’re offered four times a year by designers, and style is what you choose.” Style is fluid. My style changes with my emotions, the weather and my location. I believe there are too many beautiful options to limit yourself to one aesthetic or theme.

This featured look happens to be one of my feminine and edgy looks. I paired a basic black crop top with loose pinstriped trousers, white shoes from Levi Brand Jeans and a faux leather brown bag from Forever 21. My accessories include two gold bangles from H&M and a pair of sunglasses, also from Forever 21. For some reason I never wore these pieces together, but I put them on and everything was so visually pleasing that there was no need to try on another outfit. Then a bold red lip tied the entire outfit together.

Growing up in New York City, I was always surrounded by many individuals that put a lot of thought into their style. From my friends to strangers on the street, inspiration to reinvent myself through fashion is constantly present. This semester, I want to challenge all the Fashionistas reading this to reinvent their style and step out of your comfort zone because we only have one  life, and one chance to make a first impression.
