STYLE GURU BIO: Cait O’Brien

Hey everybody! I’m Caitlin O’Brien, but most people know me as Cait. I was born and raised in a small beach town in Southern California and after graduating high school last year, I crossed the country to attend DePaul University in Chicago. Living in one of the largest cities in the country has been life changing and has opened my eyes to not only a completely different life style and copious amounts of interesting people, but has also made me realize that everyone has their own unique style.

It is hard to pinpoint exactly where my interest in fashion began. It probably all started when I was 3 and would refuse to leave the house if I wasn’t wearing some sort of tutu or “princess” dress. But in all seriousness, fashion has always been something that I have perceived very well. Whether it be following the seasonal trends via Nordstrom catalogs with my mother or simply reading a post on Julie Sarinana’s amazing fashion blog, Sincerely, Jules, fashion has always been an important and pleasing part of my life.

Style is not just what you wear, but how you wear it. My style is one that cannot be put into words. I truly value simplicity when it comes to style; you can usually catch me rocking a simple shift dress, my leather jacket and some cute booties. Simple is good, but don’t get me wrong—if I were to see someone rocking a leopard print midi skirt with a pair of lace-up heels, I would be the first to demand where I could get an outfit as great as that.

So, if I’m not obsessing over new trends from Topshop or digging through Nordstrom catalogs in search of the latest trends, you can find me taking a dance class, exploring the beautiful city of Chicago with my best girlfriends or traveling from place to place. I hope you enjoy my postings to CollegeFashionista!
