STYLE GURU BIO: Brooklyn Robinson

Hi Fashionistas/os! I am a junior Media Studies and Theatre major and I am super excited for my first semester as a Style Guru! There are so many style possibilities for this upcoming spring I can’t wait to show you all the amazing style at Scripps College!

I have loved fashion for as long as I can remember. My style influence comes from my older sister (who has more clothes than the average small scale boutique) and street style wherever I go.

If I had to put myself in a category the title would be sporty chic. I prize comfort over anything else so I look for fun pieces that make me feel great when I wear them! Adding menswear elements into my looks add a laid back vibe which makes it possible to be chic and comfy at the same time. All the pieces in my wardrobe are versatile and can make the transition between fall/winter and spring/summer. Going from my home in Washington to school in California my clothes need to do double duty for the winter weather to the California sunshine.

As my style has evolved from high school to college I’ve realized that high quality pieces make the most out of my wardrobe.I like to mix and match these long lasting pieces with different basics and more trendy items to keep my look fresh and interesting.

In this look I have worked with layers to warm up the short sleeved sweater. My Ralph Lauren sweater adds dimension and intrigue with the geometric pattern and paired with a basic gray long sleeve makes this winter weather friendly. Rachel Roy pants add another texture while adding a bit more formality to the look. My favorite part of the whole ensemble is the boots. I love thrift shopping and these are my greatest find!

Check out my articles on Friday mornings to follow my adventures as I document the fun-loving California style at Scripps!
