STYLE GURU BIO: Brittney Melton

Hello there! My name is Brittney Melton and I am a new Style Guru.  I am more than thrilled to be writing for CollegeFashionista! I am a small town girl from Gates County, North Carolina living a college dream at East Carolina University, where I am a dual degree student with majors in Journalism and Fashion Merchandising! I grew up always wanting to be a fashion designer but have developed that dream to one day owning my own fashion magazine. What will it be named? I have not quite worked that out yet…but I hope you Fashionistas will be flipping through it one day!

With this coming spring, I will be graduating and my year will only become more fast paced than ever before. I have big plans for my life starting with this summer. I am taking summer classes, preparing for the GRE (and preparing, and continuously preparing!) and sending out letters to magazines in which I would like to work for next summer because I can never be too prepared. One another note, this is not my only internship, I have two other internships: one for a newspaper and one for our School of Dental Medicine as a Communication Intern. But other than the internships I have, I will be studying abroad soon in Spain, France and Italy!

I am very excited for this summer and all the things that will happen but that just means new clothes and if you are like me, you like to bargain shop! Truthfully, one of my favorite stores is Plato’s Closet because I can get most of every brand I enjoy for half the price or less than what it is sold in stores for. I have been looking for two different types of clothing: one would be business casual and dresses for the work place and the other form of clothes I am looking for and styles I am interested in is Italian influenced clothing or styles.

I try my best to see diversity in everything I do, but I hope this summer as a Style Guru I can see the beauty in the diversity in other people’s styles better than before as I observe different aspects of dress from not just my school, but from around the world!
