STYLE GURU BIO: Brittany Watkins

I’m Brittanica. Yes, like the Encyclopedia. And I am more than excited to be your future, favorite college Fashionista! I come from a small city outside of San Francisco, California named Richmond. My home city has taught me more things than I could sometimes bargain, but I’d have to blame my crafty mother for my love of creativity.

Ever since I can remember, my mom has had a love for constructing beautiful accessories for the cold weather. She’d sometimes sit me down at the table and give me step by step lessons on how to create that simple scarf that could become the biggest statement in a look. Since then, I was obsessed.

So, I decided to take it to a new level. A full time level.

After receiving my first sewing machine for Christmas during my sophomore year, I paused on my novel writing and began creating dresses, pants, hair pieces, shirts and anything else you can imagine a 15-year-old girl would be intrigued with. Once I realized that I never saw designing as a duty, I realized that it was my passion. And like they say, you never work if you enjoy what you are doing.

So, I pursued it.

Fast-forward to years later and I am now a 20-something year old Wardrobe Stylist/Journalist/Designer/Ex-Los Angeleno/New-Manhattanite that juggles three major internships, a full time job and full time student life.

Eager isn’t even the word to describe the way I feel about being able to write about the only thing that’s ever mattered to me. As a fashion journalist, I focus on more than the style, brand, and colors when it comes to stylishly writing. I like to get to know the person before detailing their pieces because they make the pieces.

I hope you look forward to hearing fabulous stories this spring!
