STYLE GURU BIO: Brittany Carolla

Hi there, Fashionistas/os! My name is Brittany! I am a senior at Fairleigh Dickinson University (the Madison campus!) with a major in communications with a public relations concentration. I’ve always loved looking at the posts from CollegeFashionista to get ideas for outfits, so I thought it would be perfect for me to intern with them.

I won’t lie and say I have always been into fashion. Even though I have always loved being able to show my personality through my choice of clothes/accessories, I haven’t always kept up with the trends of the seasons. I thought that in order to be fashionable you had to be rich enough to afford luxury brands, but I’ve come to realize that is not the case at all. I started getting more into fashion when I started working in retail. I saw how both customers and my co-workers walked into the store with such creative and fashionable outfits using plain clothes. This inspired me to look more closely into fashion and learn how to make everyday clothes into fashion.

Being in a public relations concentrated degree, I am able to really focus on how to brand to different people. Especially in fashion PR, people aren’t always going to like the same styles or trends. I’ve learned that in order to get people to see you, you need to have a pop of something that makes you and your fashion unique. This is the most fun part of fashion—making it your own unique masterpiece!

I’m currently looking for more internships for the summer! I want to start off working for a small PR firm in New York City that specifies in fashion, and eventually move to Boston. Boston is my favorite city. Not only is there so much to do there, but the fashion always looks so effortless and beautiful at the same time! I can’t wait to be able to learn more about the fashion market in Boston! Watch out Boston, I’m coming for you!

The outfit I’m wearing in my pictures is just a normal, everyday outfit I wear in the winter. I’m very into wearing all black, and popping it with some colorful accessory. To find something similar, I wore a black peacoat, leggings, brown chestnut riding boots, rose gold watch and my favorite handbag.

I am so excited to be able to blog this spring semester through CollegeFashionista and to show and be shown everyone’s unique styles!
