I started out young. I was six years old when I slid my tiny foot into a purple, oversized, plastic heel. I slipped on my sheer tutu, sporting bright blue underwear underneath and placed my tiara upon my curly head. To top it all off, I held my wand tightly in my little hands. My princess packet, bought from the toy-filled aisles of Wal-Mart, truly made me feel beautiful, majestic and like a princess. I guess you are what you wear!
Now, as I go into my junior year at the University of Tennessee, I understand more than ever that fashion serves the purpose of outward expression. Pairing clothing together is a work of art. There is no right or wrong way to fashion. I believe in wearing what makes you feel confident, comfortable and beautiful. My six-year-old princess outfit did that and more.
Today’s outfit is the epitome of comfort. I am wearing an oversized, white T-shirt. The loose fabric manages to keep me cool during the hot summer. I paired the casual T-shirt with a pair of denim jeans. The rips in the jeans give this laid back look a bit of an edge. Lastly, I wanted to add a pop of color so I wore cobalt blue heels to spruce things up. This look is incredibly versatile because it serves as a base. Feel free to pair a clutch, rock a blazer, add a hat or just glam out in colorful accessories.
Everyone has their own style. Don’t be afraid to take risks; mismatch and be bold; but, most importantly, be you. Always strive to find your unique inner princess.
