STYLE GURU BIO: Ashley Revness

Hey Fashionistas! I’m Ashley, and I am a freshman musical theatre major at New York University. Coming from a small town in Pennsylvania, attending school in the big apple has always been a dream of mine since I was a little kid. Not only is NYC where the heart of theatre lies, but it also happens to be one of the fashion capitals of the world, which a shopping addict like me (seriously I can spend over five hours hunting for the perfect outfit) is truly excited about!

Over the past few years I’ve been lucky enough to visit New York City multiple times, and through those visits I believe I’ve discovered what an NYC fashionista is. New Yorkers exude individuality whether it be an older woman dressed in cat printed culottes, or a business woman covered in the most chic, color-blocked jumpsuit; their personalities always shine through. But for those of you who may not be bold enough to wear animals all over your legs, one thing you will always see walking down those busy streets is black! And lucky for me black happens to invade the majority of my closet.

So I already let you into my style a bit, but I’ll say it again. I love black. I swear to god most days I’ll walk out of my house with my TopShop black ripped jeans, a black and white striped t-shirt, and some heeled black Chelsea booties, and feel like I run the world. But unfortunately I can’t look like I’m going to a funeral every single day so I do like to throw some pops of color in there every now and then. For example the outfit I’m wearing now of course starts off black with my tank top style bodysuit (which is actually my ballet leotard), and I paired that with my light wash mom jeans I recently purchased in London. The light wash denim not only adds some contrast to the black bodysuit, but the detailed floral pattern sewed on the jean adds that pop of color I desperately need in my life. I additionally added another slight pop of color with some gold and pink statement rings, so my fingers felt just as dressed up as the rest of my body. I then, of course, finish it off with my favorite black Chelsea boots tying the outfit together.

I can’t wait to start this new journey with CollegeFashionista, and if you love the color black, shopping, Chelsea boots, and using leotards as bodysuits as much as I do, then follow me for more to come!
