STYLE GURU BIO: Ariana Gleckman

Bonjour, Fashionistas! My name is Ariana Gleckman and I am a third year Communications student at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). I am enthusiastically looking forward to spending this summer as a Style Guru with the CollegeFashionista team, and look forward to checking out other CollegeFashonistas from throughout the world. Indianapolis is a beautiful city that is currently undergoing a fashion blow-up and I cannot wait to expose our Fashionistas’ successes!

Growing up in a family founded on individualism and self-expression, fashion has always been a passion of mine. I have always maintained a strong desire to not only look good, but also feel good and live well. Self-expression is one of the most important and powerful means of communication and self-identity. That being said, I have always found a need to embrace individualism and personal style. Experiences, such as being a CollegeFashionista Style Guru, grant me a platform to embrace the fashion and creative individualism of Fashionistas in Indianapolis and IUPUI.

In March of 2015, I founded my campus’ first and only Fashion and Design student organization. “Fashion and Design at IUPUI” thrives to inspire students and faculty who are passionate in all areas of fashion, design and the creative arts. My goal with Fashion and Design is to cultivate a fashion-inspired empire on my campus and help spotlight student’s creativity and individualism throughout the year. I have also founded my own women’s streetwear brand named ARI.

While it is nearly impossible to put a label on my style, I feel that the outfit chosen for my STYLE GURU BIO is a perfect representation of one of the many styles that I cling to throughout the summertime. Free People is one of those brands that are constantly innovating and revamping. While shopping last week, I fell in love with this black dress, featuring an open back and adjustable straps. As the weather begins to heat up, the less clothing, the better! This dress is entirely versatile and could be worn to a Nirvana concert or an interview — simply depending on how you accessorize. I chose a thick necklace and simple earrings to dress-up the outfit while not overdoing it. Perfect for date night!

Although I have a long way to go, I dream of sipping coffee with Kim and Kanye while discussing a possible collaboration between the ARI brand and Kimye empire. I see nothing but opportunity and networking with CollegeFashionista, and look forward to also focusing on my personal style as well as featuring other brilliant stylists from my city!
