STYLE GURU BIO: Anna Coke

Hello there, Fashionistas/os! My name is Anna Coke and I am a senior at the University of Kentucky majoring in Merchandising, Apparel and Textiles. As difficult (and sad) as it is to believe, this is the beginning of my final year as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista.

The past four semesters with CollegeFashionista have been exciting, to say the very least. Truthfully, my role as a Style Guru has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. In the past year, I’ve evolved from a shy, unhappy transfer student to a girl who is involved on campus and loves her college as much as her friends and I couldn’t have done that without CollegeFashionista.

While the beginning of college was a scary, confusing blur, I can finally say that I’ve started to figure out the path for my future. Granted, I still don’t know exactly what I want to do with my life, but through approaching strangers, meeting new Style Gurus and working for the ever-inspiring Amy Levin, I’ve become more confident, more prepared and more sure of my love of fashion than ever.

With all of that said, my time as a Style Guru has been more than just monumental life lessons and sappy Hallmark moments. In fact, it has been a blast. I have loved every second of meeting Fashionistas around my campus and across the country, because, to me, there is nothing more fun than talking about fashion with others who share in my appreciation. I’ve even dared to venture out of my clothing comfort zone, discovering a hidden love for accessories (re: sunglasses) and finding new ways to style my typical all-black ensembles (dress over culottes, anyone?).

This semester, we now have five (yes, FIVE!) Style Gurus representing the University of Kentucky—and I could not be more excited. Last semester, I had the privilege of not only meeting Style Gurus from all over America but the amazing CollegeFashionista team as well. This semester, I’m ecstatic to have the privilege of meeting new Style Gurus from my very own college. While I may be roaming the streets of a different, much bigger campus this summer (hello, New York!), nothing makes me happier than knowing that my love for CollegeFashionista is being shared by the Big Blue Nation.
