STYLE GURU BIO: Amy Larsen

Hi, style lovers! My name is Amy and I’m from the suburbs of Chicago. I am a junior at the University of Dayton and I major in communications with concentrations in public relations and marketing. I am so beyond excited to be a part of the CollegeFashionista team and I look forward to exploring a few of my passions, including fashion and photography.

I think it is true to be said that most of us Style Gurus have had a love for fashion from an early age. I think I discovered my passion the moment that I insisted on wearing my hot pink, high-top Converse to gym class to run the mile in fourth grade. Now I could say I did that just to be the obnoxious tween seeking attention, but I look at it more as the moment I realized the importance of self-expression and individuality.

In todays age, with the rise of bloggers and social media, everyone is fighting to mould themselves into a character that reflects well both behind the lens and on camera. I am here to show that an ordinary girl, from a small town, on a college student budget can still rock the streets just like any of my fashion icons.

Fashion has become my way to express who I am. Sadly, the road to style has not been a pleasant one, seeing that I have gone through almost every stage of fashion faux pas there is. But when it comes to personal style, you can get away with almost anything. All it takes is confidence.

Now I will admit, at the age of 21, I have developed an unhealthy addiction to neutral colors and deep tones. If you took a look inside my closet, one could say I’m allergic to color. I simply adore the natural simplicity that these colors show. It is fresh, clean cut, yet can be made edgy with the right styling. And okay okay, a pop of color here and there can never hurt anyone.

For this look, I stuck to my bohemian inspired basics. I’ve recently been obsessed with white, tan, and brown combinations, so I decided to pair my favorite pair of white boyfriend jeans with a light brown wrap sweater. Because of my petit structure, I added a little height with these distressed, tan booties, creating a super simple outfit with fun details that is perfect for any casual occasion!

Make sure to follow me on all social media to keep up with where I find style inspiration this semester!
