STYLE GURU BIO: Amy Cain

Hello innovators! My name is Amy Cain and I am a junior at Central Michigan University. I am a Fashion Merchandising and Design major with a minor in Advertising. This is my first semester as a Style Guru on the CollegeFashionista team and I am ecstatic!

Say hello to the fresh start of this new semester. The spring semester is the continuing of experiencing the spontaneous lifestyle the college environment provides. Girls’ nights out, lively concerts and sweet wanders around town…besides the academic stress, I am stoked!

My style has been sassy fierce from the beginning. I love wearing bright colors, bold jewelry and anything spontaneous. When I was younger, attending a school with a dress code never stopped me from displaying my personal style. I would wear enhancing accessories and fit a garment in diverse ways. Now having the freedom to wear whatever I feel like wearing is exhilarating.

Studying abroad in Paris, France for the summer of 2014, has been one of my biggest inspirations. From witnessing respected designers Martin Margiela, Dries Van Noten and the superb street styles, I have been deeply invigorated. Paris encouraged me to test all the details and to think outside the box. I’ve learned that the truest trend is to be unique and create your own signature look.

Vogue, ELLE, NYLON and Style.com are nutritional sources for my fashion hungry soul, not only in viewing the stylish garments, but also for the eye-pleasing artistic effects and photographic creations. Other pop culture influences include Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion, Clueless and Sex and the City.

My style isn’t the only thing you will be witnessing. Week after week of this spring semester, you will be reading articles on the diverse styles of Central Michigan University. Fire up, Chips! Stay tuned!
