STYLE GURU BIO: Amber Ferreira

Hello fellow Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Amber, and I’m a sophomore in the Fashion Design program at Kent State University. This is my first semester writing for CollegeFashionista and I couldn’t be more excited!

I have always enjoyed writing and view it as a creative outlet. After a few years of writing mind-numbing papers (I’m looking at you AP English), I’m ready to reclaim one of my favorite forms of self-expression. And what better way than through the CollegeFashionista platform, which combines three of my all-time favorite interests: photography, writing and fashion. It’s time to leave the design studio and put some of my other skills to work. The Kent campus will never look the same through my camera lens! Style is an aspect unique to each person, and I hope to grow my skill in photography as I attempt to capture it.

Personal style has always fascinated me and I can recall all of the hours I took to put together outfits when I was younger. I was usually attempting to recreate something I had seen in a magazine and without fail I always looked like I was wearing a costume. Now I’ve realized the secret is to not try too hard, at least in my case. I love mixing solid and patterned neutrals while keeping everything classic and simple. My uniform on any given day usually consists of a sweater of some sort, a scarf, black jeans or tights and my Converse All-Stars. Minimalism is my goal and I think there’s an understated beauty to be found in it.

I look forward to this upcoming semester and to capturing all the amazing Fashionistas and Fashionistos on the Kent campus. So here’s to spring semester and to weekly Wednesday postings of unique style and more!
