Hi everyone! My name’s Alyssa Poplaski and I’m so excited to be back for another semester at CollegeFashionista. I just completed another amazing year at SUNY Oneonta (how am I almost a senior already?). I’m majoring in Fashion Design and Textiles, and minoring in Journalism, which is why this internship was so appealing for me to try out. After having such a great time interning for CollegeFashionista last semester, I had to come back.

I was introduced to sewing and drawing at a young age, but it wasn’t until high school that I took my first fashion design class. Taking that class made me realize early on what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Watching my creations come to life is such a rewarding feeling and I couldn’t be happier that I’m working towards a degree in a subject that I love. My grandma also designed clothes for fun; she definitely had an impact on me growing up. Being home for the summer I’m super excited to be reporting the trends from right here in the North Jersey and New York area. I get so inspired by the trendsetters in the city, down the shore and even right here in my home town.

My style is always evolving. I have my certain go-tos: black and neutral colors and wearing lots of layers. Here I’m wearing a crochet open back top with a Free People bralette. The skirt I’m wearing I made back in high school, it’s always fun to add my own work into my wardrobe. Lastly, my brown wedges and statement necklace are from Forever 21.

Join me this semester as I capture all of the fun trends my home town has to offer!
