STYLE GURU BIO: Allison McAleer

Hey everyone!

I am so excited to start my very first semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista.  I am starting my second semester as a junior, and I cannot wait to see what these next five months have in store. I am a fashion merchandising major with a marketing minor and currently attend Kent State University. Kent State has a great fashion program and therefore, so many chic and amazing Fashionistas. I get so much inspiration from all of the different styles I see walking on my way to class.

Fashion means so many things to different people, and that is why I love it so much. It is how we express ourselves non-verbally to everyone around us and gives off an idea of who we are as a person and what we like. The amount of diversity on campus is one of the many reasons I itch to return and see how others, different than me, pair their clothing.

I would describe my personal style as classic and laid back. My go-to outfit is a cute top, jeans, and a pair of booties. I fully believe that with a little effort every morning I can look put together and finished while still feeling like myself. My closet consists mostly of these items, but I am slowly increasing the variety of items in my wardrobe. Whenever I find a new interesting piece, I have to add to my collection. My favorite trend this past year, and something I had to grab in the stores, is hands down, the poncho. I have loved them since I was a kid and am so psyched they came back in style. Pair it with ripped jeans, a pair of your favorite booties, and a cute, colorful bag. Throw on some makeup and mixed metal jewelry, and you are ready to go. You can also pair it with black denim and black boots to create a darker look, more suited to wear out to dinner in the evening.
