STYLE GURU BIO: Allie Glatsky

Hello Fashionistas and Fashionistos! I’m Allie and I am  a senior Broadcast Communications major at Millersville University. However, before transferring to Millersville, I studied Fashion Marketing at The Art Institute of Philadelphia. I’ve always had a passion for fashion (cliche, I know) and I’ve always seen fashion as a form of self-expression.

Aside from fashion I love adventures, seeing new places, family, food and dogs. I have a zest for life and whatever direction life sends me in, I intend to make the most of it.

It would be nearly impossible for me to characterize my sense of style into just one mere category because I wear whatever outfit fits my mood that day. However, the boho-chic look is one of my favorites. During the spring and summer seasons, I enjoy flowy bottoms and crop tops; probably because they help me imagine that I am relaxing on the beach somewhere.  I have a huge weakness for leather leggings, but a summer go-to of mine is obviously a maxi dress because I am a firm believer that beauty does not always equal pain. It’s absolutely possible to be comfortable while still looking cute.

Another staple in my every day outfit includes anything black. My closet seems to be lined with black T-shirts, black pants, black leggings and the classic little black dress. Every time I go shopping, which tends to be way more than some consider necessary, I tell myself to stop buying so many articles of clothing that are black but it just doesn’t work out that way. As Neiman Marcus said, “Women who wear black live colorful lives.”

I am so excited to be a Style Guru and combine my love of journalism, fashion and photography to capture the unique style of students around campus. With all of the hustle and bustle of everyday college life, I believe fashion provides an outlet for students to set themselves apart from everybody else and take some time to feel good by looking good.

It’s time to ditch the stereotype that all people wear in college is sweats and appreciate the unique sense of style that each one of us possess. As a Style Guru for this summer, I’m excited to highlight the latest looks seen around campus.
